Taking Pride in Where You Live

If you're like me, holiday's like the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Pioneer day give me a lot of appreciation and pride in the place that I live, the military and first responders that protect our state and country, and the freedom's that we're blessed with every day.

We may not be a part of the military, a first responder, a founding father, or hold a position of influence throughout the community, but we can make a difference in the lives of those we interact with, by taking pride in our homes.

Here's a few tips on projects and upgrades that can help increase your pride in the place you live. (It can also help build equity in your home, so there's a double-bonus for you!)

1. Upgrading your kitchen and bathrooms

New flooring, new cabinets, new appliances, and fresh paint can spruce up your kitchen can provide a fresh look to your home's main gathering place. Upgrading sinks, toilets, flooring, or even renovating your bath and shower area adds value and a new vibe to the ambiance of your home.

2. Landscaping

Adding a deck or patio, including a few new bushes or trees, and making your yard look like the coolest hangout spot in the neighborhood can give you a sense of pride before you even step foot in your house.

3. Smart Home Capabilities

Pairing your home with a good security system, voice activation capabilities for your appliances, and great internet connection can make a homeowners life easier in many ways. The ease of use, peace of mind, and ability to connect anywhere in the home can increase attraction from neighbors, and other homebuyers.

4. Solar Panels

Is your electric bill a lot of money each month? Have you ever had the desire for your home to be more "environmentally friendly"? Solar panels use the energy from the sun to power your home, drastically cutting down those bills while also being healthy for the environment.

5. Finished Basement

Basements can be an exciting place for larger gatherings, or a nice night alone with your family. Adding some carpet, appliances, furniture, paint, and a television or two can be a starting place for great times and amazing memories.

Being proud of your home gives others the opportunity to be excited about it too. Whether you're the type of person that loves bright, vibrant colors in your kitchen or just enjoys the tranquility and peace that a nightly backyard firepit can bring, these tips can help invite a new sense of pride to the place you call home.
